Pen to Print: Author Talk – Blessed Struggles with Regina Williams
Please note this is a location based event at Dagenham Library
Regina Williams’s life story is one of extraordinary resilience and determination. Born into extreme poverty in Kisii, a rural part of Kenya, her journey began with a rare opportunity to study medicine in Casablanca, Morocco.
However, during the Gulf War, her path took an unexpected turn, leading her to the UK. Arriving in England with only £50, pregnant, and knowing no one, she faced immense challenges as a foreigner and single mother, with no access to public funds for several years.
Despite being on the brink of homelessness, she never gave up. Through sheer focus and determination, she persevered, eventually building a successful career in project management, working with blue-chip clients across the UK and Europe.
Regina also made history by becoming the first Black Kenyan woman politician in London, serving as an elected representative for a decade. Her story is a powerful testament to the message she embodies: “Never give up.”
