Farzana Hakim author and daily editor of Write On! Magazine hosts a series of workshops for women to express their voice through writing. Farzana is previous winner of Pen to Print’s Book Challenge Competition and published her debut novel Sweethearts of Ilford Lane.
Farzana is look forward to meeting women from all backgrounds and please read on to hear her voice:
“I will talk about the people from the past who have had the biggest influence on our lives. Starting with my own story, with my voice. I will talk about my grandparents. How both had different impact on me as a girl growing up in my culture; as they found it hard to move away from their heavily rooted Pakistani ways, in a western city”.
“However, I will also discuss why its important to not shy away from our past but to embrace it. I wrote my grandfather’s story for Pen to Print and won that competition and that book has been taken by an agent to sell. This story empowered me the most”.
“Exercise will be to write about something from the past which has impacted on you and your life”.
