Session One: Playwriting

Is it important for a writer to choose one literary genre and stick with it?

Or can a grasp of all be acquired?

Not sure what type of creative writing best suits you?

Here’s your opportunity to discover and/or find your niche(s) with an introduction to taster sessions, covering each of the various writing forms over the coming weeks, with with multifarious scribbler H.B. O’Neill.

During this session, participants will discuss the format of a play, the importance of creating conflict and having an awareness of space and time. Participants will also discuss about setting, props and lighting and attempt to set up a stage scene then write the first page of a play.

H.B. O’Neill has studied and experimented with a wide range of literary forms and is keen to pass on his knowledge and experience gained.

H.B. O’Neill has had his play Pineapple Chance produced and performed at both the Brockley Jack Theatre in South London and at The Broadway Theatre in Barking. He has written other full length plays including In Clover – a study of terminal illness and unlikely friendship set in a local hospital. Hugh also produces monologue performance pieces such as Murderer and numerous sketches and short plays.
