Starting with personal stories, memories and anecdotes about the local area of East London, the workshop will use different creative writing techniques to explore participants’ relationship with their local area and encourage new writing to develop – whether this be a poem, biographical memoir writing or the start of a short story.
Gboyega Odubanjo is writer in residence at Rabbits Road Institute Library, which is currently ‘virtually on tour’ to Barking and Dagenham. A new sequence of poems written during his residency will be published in 2021.
Gboyega is a British-Nigerian poet born and raised in East London. His pamphlet, While I Yet Live, was published by Bad Betty Press in 2019. He is a Roundhouse Resident Artist and editor of bath magg.
