The epic and rich worlds of Science-Fiction and Fantasy are not often contained within one book, but why is that the case? And how can we make the most of that as writers?
Alex Davis, author and acclaimed creative writing tutor and lecturer at the University of Derby and De Montfort University, leads this two-hour session, where we’ll be exploring:
· The appeal of the series to readers and publishers
· The creative opportunities – and challenges – that writing a series can present
· The need for solid worldbuilding to provide a background to your series
· The elements of planning required to write a trilogy, or a longer series than that!
This workshop is suitable for Fantasy and Sci-Fi writers at all levels – you don’t need to be thinking about, planning on writing a series to take part! We’ll have a host of practical advice, discussion points and creative exercises to get you to think big about your genre stories.
