We hope you enjoy!**The Reader Became The Bookafter Wallace Stevens, "The House Was Quiet And The World Was Calm" Sitting in the garden shed. I‘m holding a book in my hands, It is my afternoon company.I’m reading Tom’s Midnight Garden, absorbing its worldand the rhythm echos in my head: ‘Night’s Winged Horses No one can replace Midnight is no moment Midnight is a place.’ Silence, except for my breathbreathing in timewith the rhythms of the words; the turning of each page, A full stop. Silence within the silence of the garden shed. I know Grandma will be home soon, but even so, the afternoon stretches endlessly. I am nine, a latchkey kid, sitting reading in the shed,safe away from strangers, only looking up sometimes to watch the spiders hanging in their webs, the pink camellias moving in the wind.
