Pen to Print

Now that we're firmly in our new annual theme of Identities we are reaching out to the people who have been helped by Pen to Print in the past. Here is a snippet of Julie Dexter's story:"Pen to Print has given me opportunities to contribute more widely to its platforms. These experiences have allowed me to support and celebrate the work of other writers, as well as share my own, and to play an active part in a community that supports writers at all stages of their careers."If you would like to share your own Pen to Print story with us - please get in touch at pentoprint@lbbd.gov.uk or message us on here. We'd love to hear your story and find out how Pen to Print has helped your writing journey. @barkinganddagenham #pentoprint ...

Write On! Showcase: Mood Swings + The Grimsdyke Ghouls + Hi AngerRead the Showcase here: www.pentoprint.org/writeon-showcaseEdited by Newton Webb who says: "I’m Newton Webb, horror author, chairman and co-founder of the British Horror Authors Guild. Alongside fellow board members A E Deakin and S E Tykka, I support British horror and dark fiction writers.Throughout November, we’re editing Write On!’s digital Showcase, exploring the theme of ‘Fractured’. Horror often begins when something familiar breaks: a relationship, a home, our understanding of reality or our confidence in ourselves. These pieces examine what happens when those cracks appear, how we respond and what we become as we try to navigate the damage. For me, the key messages centre on damaged confidence, a shattered sense of safety and the troubling ways we carry those fractures into our futures."Submissions include:Mood Swings by Allan LochheadThe Grimsdyke Ghouls by Newton WebbHi Anger by Bani LambaRead Write On! magazine www.pentoprint.org/product/see-write-on-issue-30-here Listen to Write On! Pen to Print

Every Tuesday we will be sharing a poem from one of our wonderful Pen to Print and Write On! contributors. We hope you enjoy!**That Simple Thing by Jilly Henderson-LongOne day, we’ll all be old. When I am, I DO NOT wantto be treated like a fool.I want to be RESPECTEDfor the little part I played.I want to feel a little bit ofLOVE along the way. It’s easy to forget all thoseover eighty-five, who may not beso very strong, but are gladto be alive, and proud of each achievementwhatever that may be,for the world that they have lived in,they’ve handed down to me.I don’t want to see them crying, all alone in their chair,I just want them to knowthat somebody is there,to offer up respect,to comfort and admire,to hold a hand and give a smileand have a ready ear,to listen with attention, give praise where praise is due,and understand the sacrificesmade for me and you.For one day, when we get old,we won’t want disregarding, what we’ll want’s a cup of tea- and a stroll around the garden(c) Jilly Henderson-Long @jillyhendersonlongRead by Claire Buss @grasshopper2407 ...
