After five years leading Thursday Connectors, Farzana Hakim is handing the baton over – to not just one but five new editors!
Jilly-Hendersen Long is kicking-off the new line-up, leading us up to March 2026. Afsana Elanko then takes over from April to June. Next up is Mirabel Lavelle who takes us from July to Sept, with Sarah Frideswide in charge of the October to December period and Nick Burdett taking on the first quarter in 2027.
All our new editors are published writers, with wide-ranging experiences our writing community will be able to relate to. More importantly though, all are passionate about keeping Thursday Connectors as a hub for sharing culture and heritage through the art of writing and welcoming writers of all backgrounds. This includes welcoming writing and creatives from different parts of the world.
If the idea of sharing your story about you and your community inspires, please do submit your thoughts and ideas on issues and themes to the new Thursday Connectors Team, so the page can remain as important and relevant to our communities and to you as it is at the moment.
Submissions should be no longer than 800 words and, if possible, fit the themes announced on the homepage, in The Editor’s Introduction. Please also submit any images you have permission to use and that illustrate your work. If you’re happy to include social handles, these can be featured in the page copy. Write On! Extra accepts video and audio content. Please see the Submission Terms and Conditions for further details.
From armed forces and medical backgrounds to Barking & Dagenham local history enthusiasts, writing teachers and coaches supporting children and young writers –our new team of editors bring a rich breadth of lived experience. They’re here to help shape your words into a world you can see yourself in. Thursday Connectors isn’t about the grammar police; it’s a reminder that writing begins with the heart!
