ReadFest 2025: Make Your Own Chapbook with Julian Walker
NB: Please bring your own laptop if possible, as the session will involve working with Word documents. If you prefer to write by hand, you’re welcome to bring a notebook or handbook as an alternative.
Participants are also requested to bring a prepared text:
- 1,000 to 2,000 words if working on a Word document
- Up to 500 words if writing by hand
Participants will be shown and guided through the physical making of a hand-sewn chapbook and learn it’s history.
Guided through designing the contents, using your own text and using basic word-processing skills. By the end of the session, participants will have the skills to publish their own work as handmade books.
The session will include a very brief history along with some historical materials to view.

Booking is essential and you will be asked to present your booking confirmation upon arrival.

Pen to Print reserves the right to cancel, delay or postpone the event for any reason, including adverse weather conditions, an emergency situation or unforeseen or unavoidable circumstances out of its reasonable control. In such cases, the event organiser will endeavour to inform participants as quickly as is possible.
