The Pen to Print Competitions are NOW OPEN!
The Poetry Competition

Opens: Monday 23 September 2024
Closes: Friday 21 March 2025, 5pm

First Prize: Tablet PC
Winner will be announced and receive a trophy at the Pen to Print Awards on 24 July 2025. The winning poem will be published in Pen to Print’s Write On! publications and an audio version will be recorded and broadcasted on Write On! Audio and available on the Pen to Print website.
Runners up will receive a certificate at the Pen to Print Awards and will also have their pieces shared in Pen to Print publications and on the website.

The Short Story Competition

As the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham is the home of Pen to Print, we know staff can’t enter the regular Pen to Print competitions, this is something just for you and your families. This is the fifth year we have run a competition for our work colleagues in Barking & Dagenham. We write so much for business why not give writing creatively and for fun a try?

Pen to Print Speech and Drama Festival – Incorporating the Michael Feld Writing Competition for Young People

Opens: Monday 23 September 2024
Closes: Friday 30 May 2025, 5pm

Write and perform a poem, monologue or short play of no more than 3 mins long as part of our Speech and Drama Festival on Saturday 19 July 2025.

Winners in each category for poem, monologue and short play will win a Tablet PC. With some categories having the opportunities for a free coaching session with an acting professional.

The best overall piece of writing by young people aged 7 to 16 years old living or going to school in Barking and Dagenham will be eligible to win the Michael Feld Memorial Award. This will be judged on the written pieces only.
