Ideal for writers who would like to build confidence and skill in reading their work aloud in public

Please note this is a location based event at Dagenham Library

Would you like to feel more comfortable reading your work in public?

Most writers know that live readings are an excellent way to engage new audiences and share their writing with the world – and yet for many, standing in front of an audience can be a daunting prospect!

The great news is that there are many simple tips and tricks used by performers and public speakers to lift their words off the page and bring them to life with energy, confidence and enthusiasm. This workshop offers an introduction to the skills learned by actors in rehearsal – many of whom also suffer from nerves!

The workshop will explore breathing, relaxation, vocal variety and how to convey emotion when reading a text. Participants will build confidence through a series of gentle exercises carefully designed to support their physical and vocal presence – and will leave the workshop with a tool-kit of ideas and exercises to help them stand up in public and stand out in their reading.
